Network upgrades for dedicated servers
Overview
As your project grows, the network resources of your dedicated server can be expanded without moving to a new server. You can upgrade:
- port speed;
- traffic plan;
- number of IP addresses;
- private network (VLAN) between your servers.
The available options depend on your server plan and the data center. Port speed and VLAN can be upgraded within the options available for your plan.
You can check the current network parameters of your server in the client area: Order Details > Network tab. For details, see Network information.

Port speed
The port speed defines the maximum bandwidth of the server's uplink. INTROSERV dedicated servers support port speeds up to 40 Gbps. The speeds available for your server depend on its plan.
Changing the port speed may require a short interruption of network access. The duration depends on the scope of work.
Traffic plan
Dedicated servers are available with metered or unmetered traffic. Unmetered traffic is offered only with plans that include guaranteed bandwidth.
If your server regularly reaches its traffic limit, you can request a plan with a larger allowance or unmetered traffic.
The new traffic plan can start right after you pay the invoice. You can also choose to switch from the next billing period, which most clients prefer because it saves money.
Additional IP addresses
Each server comes with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. If you need more addresses, you can order up to 256 additional IPv4 addresses. Additional addresses can be distributed between your servers. Additional IP addresses are usually assigned within 30 to 60 minutes after the invoice is paid.
You can also use your own IP addresses (BYOIP).
Private network (VLAN)
If you have several dedicated servers, you can connect them into a private local network based on VLAN. The local network speed is up to 50 Gbps. Traffic inside the private network does not go through the public internet.
VLAN is available within the options of your server plan.
For VLAN configuration on the server side, see How to set up VLAN on Windows Server.
Availability by data center
In DC3, upgrades are available for all servers. In DC1, DC2 and DC4, support checks the possibility of an upgrade for each server individually, so specify your server in the ticket.
How to request a network upgrade
All network upgrades are requested through a support ticket.
- In the client area, go to Tickets and click Add ticket.
- Describe the upgrade you need.
- Wait for the invoice and pay it.
- After the payment, the engineers start the work at the agreed time.

In the ticket, specify:
- your server in the Orders field;
- the parameter you want to change and the new value;
- a convenient time for the work, with your time zone, if an interruption is expected.
Pricing and billing
For every upgrade, an invoice is issued. The work starts only after the invoice is paid.
