Log In to the server
After your dedicated server is provisioned, you can connect to it using the credentials shown in your Client Area on the Order Details page: the server IP address, the login (root on Linux, Administrator on Windows), and the password. The connection method depends on the operating system: SSH for Linux, RDP for Windows.
To find your connection details, go to Orders, open your server, and open Order Details. The IP-address, Login, and Password fields each have a copy button.
Connecting to a Linux server over SSH
On Windows, use the built-in ssh command in Terminal or PowerShell, or an SSH client such as PuTTY. On macOS and Linux, use the terminal.
Connect with the following command, replacing <YOUR_SERVER_IP> with your server address:
ssh root@<YOUR_SERVER_IP>
On the first connection, accept the host key by typing yes. Enter the password when prompted. The password is not shown as you type. Once connected, you have a command-line session on your server.
Copy the password from Order Details instead of typing it, to avoid mistakes.
Connecting to a Windows server over RDP
On Windows, use the built-in Remote Desktop Connection client.
- Press Win+R, type mstsc, and press Enter.
- In the Computer field, enter your server IP address.
- Click Connect.
- Enter the login (Administrator) and the password when prompted.
- Accept the certificate warning to continue.
On macOS, install Microsoft's official Remote Desktop client from the App Store, add a PC with your server IP address, and connect with the same credentials.
Once connected, you see the Windows desktop of your server.
First login
For security, change the default password after your first login. See Changing the default user password for the steps.
If the connection is refused, check that you are using the correct IP address and that the server has finished provisioning. A newly ordered server can take a few minutes before it accepts connections.
