Password change
This guide explains how to change a Windows user account password on your server when you are connected over RDP. You will need an account with administrator rights. Two methods are covered: through the graphical interface (Computer Management) and through the command line (Command Prompt or PowerShell).
Method 1. Change the password in Computer Management
Step 1. Open the Control Panel, go to Administrative Tools, and open Computer Management.

Step 2. In the left pane expand Local Users and Groups and select Users.
Step 3. Right-click the account you want to change and select Set Password.
Step 4. In the warning window click Proceed.
Step 5. Enter the new password, confirm it in the second field, and click OK. A message confirms that the password has been set.
Method 2. Change the password from the command line
Use this method if you prefer the console or need to change the password quickly. Run the command as an administrator.
Command Prompt (cmd):
net user USERNAME NEWPASSWORD
Replace USERNAME with the account name and NEWPASSWORD with the new password. To be prompted for the password without showing it on screen, use:
net user USERNAME *
PowerShell:
Set-LocalUser -Name "USERNAME" -Password (Read-Host -AsSecureString)
After you press Enter, type the new password. It is not shown on screen.
Verify the change
Sign out and sign back in with the new password to make sure it works. If the account is the one you use for RDP, reconnect using the new password.
If you cannot sign in or the account is locked, contact INTROSERV support.
